CNA Interview Tips
Of course you need to get prepared for your interview. Before and during the interview, do everything you can to keep your head up. Think, be and act confident and positive. And try to implement at least some of the following tips:
Come early enough for the interview. Before it starts you may need to complete some employment application forms. And be punctual, this is extremely important. Get late for the interview and you can forget about the place you have applied for.
Do not bring with you things that may bother or distract you. For example you can leave you phone home, in your car or remember to turn it off.
Be confident, if there is an opportunity to offer a hand shake, do it firmly. Keep in mind that you are a guest and act accordingly, do not sit unless you are invited to. Be careful with how you act and move, your body language can tell your interviewer a lot about yourself and keep eye contact.
Do not talk unless you are asked to. Do not ask questions but let the interviewer ask questions instead; remember that it is you who is being interviewed. Listen carefully to the questions you are asked. Answer in positive and open manner. Feel free to ask for clarification if you missed something. Ability to listen carefully is a must for certified nursing assistant.
Another good and important point for a CNA is to be frank, open and honest in answering interviewer’s questions. Again, be positive and avoid and negative comparisons or comments about other people.
When you’re given time to talk use this opportunity to reveal and explain reasons why you would like to be hired and become a staff member of this company. This is also a moment when you can ask questions about salary, benefits and job in general. Get your list of questions prepared in advance.
At the end of the interview leave a copy of your up-to-date resume. You probably already gave when applied but if not, than this is good time to do so. And remember to thank the person that interviewed you. Be polite, even if you are not hired right away, there might be an opening for CNA position in the future and you may be invited to take it.
