CNA Salary in 2009

A CNA salary varies, depending on some important factors. These factors are Certified Nursing Assistant experience, level of their skills, and their location. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics average year earnings (wages and salaries) of CNAs in 2009* were $24,980. The middle 50 percent of CNAs earned $24,040. The lowest 10 percent of Certified Nursing Assistants earned $17,510 and less, and the highest 10 percent earned over $33,970.

  • Rooming and Boarding Houses $27,800
  • Grantmaking and Giving Services $27,890
  • Colleges, Universities, and Professional Schools $29,340
  • Scientific Research and Development Services $35,000
  • Scheduled Air Transportation $41,720

Average annual earnings in the industries that employ the highest numbers of Certified Nursing Assistants in 2009*:

  • Local Government $27,140
  • Home Health Care Services $23,070
  • Community Care Facilities for the Elderly $23,320
  • General Medical and Surgical Hospitals $26,540
  • Nursing Care Facilities $24,080

Top paying States for CNAs in 2009*:

  • In the State of Connecticut Certified Nursing Assistants made $30,040
  • CNAs in Hawaii earned $30,500
  • In the State of New York Certified Nursing Assistant Salary was $30,850
  • Certified Nursing Assistants in Nevada made $30,970
  • And CNAs from the state of Alaska earned $32,390
